In most cases, the team at Sun Service Specialists is able to remove the existing solar panel system in one day with the reinstall slated to occur approximately 2 weeks after roof repairs have been completed. Because not having panels on the roof means you aren’t able to produce electricity, it’s our priority to complete the removal and reinstallation process as quickly as possible, but we want to be sure to do so without damaging your new roof!

WILL YOU BE ABLE TO REUSE THE EXISTING EQUIPMENT?

The system components like panels, optimizers, microinverters, wiring, etc. will be reused, but to maintain the integrity of the new roof’s warranty, we will use new racking components which come with a manufacturer’s warranty. The cost of new racking is roughly the same, as it can take a lot of time to try and salvage existing racking components. We treat each removal and reinstallation with the utmost care and attention to detail to ensure no further damage comes to the equipment and you can rest assured that your system will be back on your roof and harnessing energy in no time!

IS IT POSSIBLE TO DIY SOLAR PANEL REMOVAL?

Long story short – yes, it is possible to complete the solar panel removal process by yourself. However, we do not recommend this. On top of potentially damaging your roof and/or panels, you void your warranty by trying to service or remove your panels yourself. If you’re willing to take on this daunting task, that’s up to you, but we recommend hiring professionals for this process.
